Market slipped into
the red and hit fresh intra day low in morning trade as weakness in Asian stocks
dampened sentiment. The barometer index, Sensex, was down 83.28 points off
close to 140 points from the day's high and up about 15 points from the day's
low. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was
negative.
Cipla extended initial losses on weak results. Shares of
commercial and passenger vehicle makers rose as latest data announced after
market hours on Wednesday, 12 February 2014 showed that inflation based on the
combined consumer price index (CPI) for urban and rural India for January 2014
eased to 24-month low level. Shares of two wheeler makers declined.
The market edged higher in early trade. It slipped into the
red and hit fresh intra day low in morning trade.Cipla's consolidated net profit
fell 17% to Rs 284 crore on 22% rise in income from operations to Rs 2581 crore
in December 2013 over December 2012. The result was announced after
market hours on Wednesday, 12 February 2014.Coal India's consolidated net profit fell 11.39% to Rs 3894.09 crore on 2.91% fall in total income to Rs 19110.74 crore in December 2013 over December 2012. The result was announced after market hours on Wednesday, 12 February 2014.
