See-saw movement was there in the market today. The indices Sensex and Nifty swung between gains and losses and ended the trade on a flat note. Sensex closed 17 points up at 24900, while Nifty settled 11 points up at 7614. After witnessing sharp decline in the previous session markets end flat amid consolidation with metal shares gaining the most. Meanwhile, investors are keenly awaiting fourth quarter earnings slated to be commence next week.

The Sensex ended with a gain of 17 points at 24901. The Sensex opened at 24979 touched an intra-day high of 25001 and low of 24834. The Nifty closed with a gain of 11 points at 7614. The Nifty opened at 7736 hitting a high of 7639 and low of 7592.

Traders with a short-term perspective can sell the contract on rallies while maintaining a stop-loss at 7640. Resumption of the downtrend can test support at 7580 levels. An emphatic fall below 7560 can pull the contract down to 7545 and 7520 in the near term. Key resistances are at 7650, 7680 and 7700. Only a decisive breach of 7710 can take the contract higher to 7730 and then to 7745 or 7760, which will be a corrective up-move.
